Led by Dr. Hong Yu, UMass BioNLP Lab's research group consists of members at the Manning College of Computer and Information Sciences at University of Massachusetts Amherst, Miner School of Computer & Information Sciences at University of Massachusetts Lowell, UMass Chan Medical School, and other UMass affiliates. Our group closely collaborates with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and other federal research organizations.

We are an inter-disciplinary team from computer science, biomedical informatics, linguistics, and public health, conducting research on information retrieval, machine learning, and natural language processing, with a primary focus on biomedical and clinical applications. We aim to develop state-of-the-art language technologies for mitigating health disparity across the U.S.
